Basic Invite: Making the Most of Your Photos

As a maternity, newborn, child and family photographer, I am often creating art for life’s milestones or the yearly family photos – the kind of milestones or updates that are meant to be shared with others.  Those photos are not meant to only be shared once in a social media post and they certainly aren’t meant to live in the depths of your hard drive. Those photos are for celebrating moments big and small with those we love through tangible, beautiful keepsakes. Whether it’s a birth announcement, party invitation, or your annual holiday card, or even a corporate holiday card for your business, Basic Invite is the perfect place to create your paper goods.

Basic Invite is my personal go-to for building my christmas cards online because of their unique offerings. I’ll start with my favorite feature, their Address Capturing Service, because as a mom of three I am all about anything that makes my life easier. Collecting, keeping track of, and writing in addresses is both tedious and time-consuming. And for us moms, it comes with a high margin for error when you’re constantly interrupted by kids in need of a snack, diaper change, or a referee. 🙃 Basic Invite’s address capturing service that allows you to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media to request your friends and family’s addresses. The addresses are then stored in your account and can be selected during the design process. And to take it even a step further, they even include recipient address printing at no cost on all card orders. It’s virtually no work on my end and I’m *all about it*.

Another feature I love is that you can order a printed sample of your actual invitation before placing the final order. This allows you to see exactly what you’ll be sending out to get a feel for  paper quality, how your photos and other elements print, and make sure the card is perfect. I realize I’m partial here, but if you’ve invested in a professional photographer, you should make sure that what you’re printing represents your investment with a quality product.

Now, let’s talk design.

If you’ve ever worked with some of the other online DIY paper goods sites, you know that your design is often limited to specific colors. It can be really frustrating to work on a design template you love and then discover that some of the graphics are not available in colors that work with the palette you’re using. Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows you almost unlimited color options with instant previews online, giving you much more creative freedom over your design. Once you select a design, you can change the color of each element on the card. With over 180 colors to choose from, it’s sure to end up exactly how you want it.

Foil cards are a way to add sophistication, fun, or a little bit of glitz. They are especially great for holiday cards but also add a beautiful touch to birth announcements, or pizazz to a 1st birthday invitation. Basic Invite offers them in gold, silver, and rose gold. You can choose flat or raised foil on all of Basic Invite’s foil designs.

To put the final touch on your design, Basic Invite has over 40 different envelope colors to choose from so you can complete the look exactly how you like. All of the envelopes are peel and seal so they can be closed quickly and securely. Again, alllll the love for anything that makes life easier.

While the weather may not even be feeling like fall yet, Christmas will be here in only 3 months. We all know how crazy things get as we near the holidays so it’s never too early to get your cards designed and ordered so they’re ready to mail come December. Right now, Basic Invite is offering 15% off with coupon code  15FF51 so go get started!
