I can’t be the only one who can’t bake (or would rather not), I can tell you this: when I want dessert, I go out. Baking requires precision, measuring, and timing things justttt right. I’ll happily support local businesses if it means someone else is making the sweets—especially if they involve chocolate. Here are The BEST Dessert Spots in the Cape Girardeau area – in my opinion 🙂
Whether you’re a chocolate lover like myself, into pastries, or you’re known to make an ice cream run, this list covers some of the best dessert spots in and around Cape Girardeau.
For Baked Goods & Beautiful Treats
If you’re like me and want a sweet baked goodie these places are must-visits:
- Oxio Dessert Studio – Their Whitelaw location has a bigger dessert selection and everything is as beautiful as it is delicious.
- Crepe Girardeau (Food Truck) – Track them down for sweet crepes that feel like a special treat every time.
- Bon Bon’s – Small, cozy, and always has something good in the bakery case.
- Socials Cafe – A lovely stop for a latte and something sweet—you’ll want to stay a while.
- My Daddy’s Cheesecake – A Cape classic with a flavor for every mood.
- Momo’s Favorite Treats (Jackson) – A favorite in Jackson with lots of charm and flavor.
- S’moore’s Artisan Confections – Unique candies and sweets for the kid in all of us.
- Insomnia Cookies – Open late for those sugar cravings that hit at 10 p.m.
- The Cheesecake Ninja (Downtown Jackson) – Fun flavors, delicious cheesecake. I especially like the minis which are the perfect size for kids and adults alike!
- Soirée by Annie Laurie’s – Chic, unique, and tasty—treats that look as good as they taste.
- Celebrations – Their Banana Cream Pie is practically famous in Cape. Don’t sleep on it.
Ice Cream – Yes Please!
While I personally choose baked goods over any type of ice cream, I still appreciate a good scoop now and then. These are the go-to places for frozen goodness:
- Sugar Chic (Food Truck) – Always a hit, especially in the warmer months.
- Victoria’s Creamery – With spots in both Cape and Jackson, this is a go-to for a creamy treat.
- Knowlan Family Farm (Seasonal) – Open June to November, their hand-dipped ice cream is worth the seasonal wait. This $&@! Just Got Serious is a fan favorite – you’ve gotta try it!
- Speck – The only place locally offering gelato—and it’s so good, you might forget about regular ice cream.
Date night – end it with desserts!
If you’re already out for dinner or date night, here are some dessert-worthy finishes:
- Top of the Marq – Upscale with a view. The perfect setting for a pretty plate of dessert.
- Beacon 53 at Century Casino – Dessert and drinks? Yes please.
- Trio – 100% plant-based and unexpectedly indulgent. You don’t need dairy to make something delicious.
And if you are looking for a photo session to pair with your favorite sweet treat, let’s do it! I’m totally into capturing your family exploring artisan marshmallows or hitting up Ty’s Summer Sno for a unique and unscripted family session that your kids (and your husband) will actually enjoy.
